“Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children’s children. Do not let selfish men, or greedy interests, skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.”

Friends:
Attached is a letter from Grant Smith, Senior Energy Policy Analyst, from the Civil Society Institute. If you remember, Grant attended the Standing Against the Sand Storm Conference in Black River Falls on June 1. Some of you have had the opportunity to work with him over these past months in learning more about the impact on water resources as related to our dependence on fossil fuels for energy! Huge quantities of our water resources are used in the industry just for cleaning sand and extracting oil and gas; add those to other forms of fossil fuel extraction and we will eventually deplete our supplies for drinking and agricultural uses necessary for life.

HELP is needed by the various groups formed in MN, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and most of all, Wisconsin, to sign into this effort and to formally support the Executive Order. (see the attached document) . Please contact Grant (his phone number and email address are below) if your organization or group is interested. Having read the information myself, I believe this initiative could bring a meritorious action that could benefit us all at a time when we are all very worried about water supplies and what the future brings in regard to clean, potable water for ourselves and future generations.

Cordially,

Colleagues,

Attached is the Water Executive Order for adoption by the President CSI and others have developed.

At the moment, we are asking organizations around the country to sign onto the Executive Order.  Our target is 80 organizations.  We now have nearly 40.  Within the next few weeks, we hope to add another 40 to the list.
We hope to hold a press event to release the Water Executive Order by mid- to late October.

If you have any questions about it, please do not hesitate to contact me.  But please review and determine if your organization can sign onto this effort and formally support the Executive Order.

Thank you for your continued support.  We appreciate the opportunity to work with you.

Sincerely,

Grant Smith
