Subject: THREAT of more
frack-sand mining. Act now!
Hi frack-sand mining fighters,
Please read, act, and share with others. This directly affects
us!
The U.S. Senate will vote on a bill (S.2083) that would greatly speed up
U.S. exports of natural gas abroad. This would mean much more fracking, and
thus much more frack
sand mining in our region -- so please call your Senators with this message:
"As a constituent, I want Senator ____ to oppose S. 2083 and all efforts to
export gas abroad. We should put U.S. communities over oil and gas
profits."
Senator phone numbers are below.
The oil and gas industry and some in
Congress are using escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia to push
President Obama to dramatically expedite the approval of U.S. exports of natural
gas. But exporting gas abroad means:
- More fracking in the U.S., putting our drinking water, air, climate
and health further at risk, and thus
- Resulting in more frack sand mining in our region
- Higher gas prices here at home, reversing industry claims that
fracking creates energy independence
- Bigger oil and gas industry profits as they sell gas abroad - most
likely Asia, not the Ukraine.
Instead,
Congress must work NOW to transition the U.S. off fossil fuels through proven
clean-energy solutions.
Please call your senators today or tomorrow (4/10-11):
MN
Senator Amy Klobuchar: 1-888-224-9043
Senator Al Franken: 202-224-5641
WI
Tammy Baldwin: (202) 224-5653
Senator Ron Johnson: (202) 224-5323
. . . and share this email with others!
Onward,
Jim
